HealthPort to Supply RACPro Basic software to Resurrection Health Care

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

HealthPort has signed an agreement with Resurrection Health Care of Chicago to supply its RACPro Basic software. RACPro Basic software is used for Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) initiative by the hospitals.

The documentation process in the hospitals and healthcare centers can often be chaotic with innumerable medical record requests, coding, billing, medical necessity reviews and paperwork brought on by Recovery Audit Contractors (RAC). The hospital needs to have educated staff along with loads of clerical support to locate, photocopy and respond to RAC requests to tackle this challenge.

If these documents are not handled properly, it could result in rebuttal and appeals and also cause processing delays and lost revenue as Medicare recoveries climb. RACPro Basic allows hospitals to store and view records, as well as to view the status of RAC requests and confirm which records were sent and when. HealthPort’s RACPro Basic provides many advantages such as automation, organization and proven efficiencies, claims HealthPort.

“In addition to the full-service access to records and status documentation, through the seamless integration of the ROI and RACPro Basic systems, Resurrection chose HealthPort based on their long-term relationship with our operations management team and the comfort of knowing that we would deliver an exceptional product and support,” said Dale Speer, HealthPort regional director of Hospital Sales. “Our technology allows clients to have immediate access to information.”

Resurrection Health Care has an aim of RAC-ready and was looking for a consistent process and solution for RAC tracking. As the organization prepares for the permanent program, the roll-out of RACPro Basic will take place in the coming months. The company is already using HealthPort’s Release of Information (ROI) service at a few of its facilities.

In October last year, AHIMA and its affiliate, The Foundation of Research and Education (FORE), launched the HealthPort EDMS as part of their e-HIM Virtual Lab to help health information management (HIM) students and instructors gain valuable access to an archive of health records, as well as to experience hands-on training with an electronic document management system.
