Healthcare Technology and News: CitiusTech Announces Connect4Health Launch

Healthcare tech vendor CitiusTech has announced the launch of its Connect4Health framework, which according to company officials “connects Microsoft HealthVault, Microsoft Dynamics CRM and CitiusTech collaborative disease and wellness management.”

The product offers pre-built workflows for integrating evidence-based disease and care management guidelines, especially for chronic conditions like diabetes, CAD, COPD, obesity and hypertension. It uses HealthVault to integrate consumer health data and consumer health devices with the patient relationship management capabilities enabled by Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

Company officials say this framework lets physicians and health coaches “communicate with patients, monitor data from consumer health devices, and track patient self-management tasks.” The Connect4Health framework is “relevant for disease management organizations, payers as well,” CitiusTech officials say.

“Managing and monitoring patients with chronic conditions is a major pain point in the healthcare,” says David Cerino, general manager of the Consumer Health Solutions Group at Microsoft.

I must say this is the first time this reporter has covered Microsoft’s HealthVault product, but in March TMC‘s Raju Shanbhag reported that ANT+ Wireless, a division of Dynastream Innovations, announced that consumers “will now benefit from compatibility between selected ANT+ enabled profiles and Microsoft HealthVault, a consumer health technology platform.”

According to Shanbhag, with HealthVault, it is possible to track and store health and wellness information such as heart rate and fitness activity, weight, blood glucose, blood pressure, pulse oximetery – never heard of that either, but we’ll give ‘em the benefit of the doubt as my medical expertise is limited to Band-Aids – medications, labs and more. ANT+ enables data collection and transfer in sport, fitness and wellness with sensors ranging from heart rate and weight to bike power and speed and distance.

“HealthVault offers a way to store health information from many sources in one location, so that it’s always organized and available online,” Shanbhag wrote, adding that the product “makes it possible to use health information wherever and whenever users want, as well as provides the ability to share the information with anyone.”
