Healthcare Technology and News: Piedmont Healthcare Selects AtlantaNAP for Data Center Facility


Piedmont Healthcare (PHC), a not-for-profit organization with a 481-bed acute tertiary care facility in the North Atlanta community of Buckhead, has reportedly selected AtlantaNAP to provide a primary data center facility for its healthcare operations.
 
Piedmont Healthcare is the parent company of Piedmont Hospital, that offers all major medical, surgical and diagnostic services, and was named Best in Atlanta for Overall Cardiac Care and Cardiac Surgery (2008 and 2009) by HealthGrades (a leading healthcare ratings company) and one of the nation's Most Wired hospitals for five consecutive years in the 100 Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study.
 
AtlantaNAP will provide this premiere hospital with, host data processing for clinical and administrative systems, including diagnostic imaging, cancer services, surgical and medical systems. Officials at Piedmont said that the latest facility is offering ease of operating, network availability, world-class operational redundancy and overall security.
 
Ed Lovern, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Piedmont Healthcare said that, after an extensive review process, Piedmont selected AtlantaNAP for its leadership, equipment and facilities, advanced security and world-class operational redundancy.
 
He added that, “We are confident that AtlantaNAP will provide our organization with a high-performing data center for many years to come."
 
AtlantaNAP recently completed the expansion of their new Enterprise Data Center, which adds 12,500 additional square feet of cage and cabinet co-location space, and a second expansion of the space by an additional 13,500 feet.
 
President Jeff Hinkle is delighted to have Piedmont as a customer. "We are thrilled that the principals of Piedmont see the advantages of our facility and our organization and have entrusted their primary operations to us," said Hinkle.
 
"We look forward to a long and successful relationship helping Piedmont operate efficiently with the highest levels of uptime within our enterprise-class facility."
 
Built by the owners of Global Net Access after 12 years in the Internet business, the AtlantaNAP boasts the features of a carrier class facility with the low prices. It is one of the few facilities able to support higher power density applications. Power is dual fed from the grid and protected though multiple redundant N+1 paralleled generator and ups power systems.
