Virtuon, a computer systems service provider that specializes in virtualization, business continuity and cloud computing, announced the launch of vPresence Virtual Desktop as a learning tool for patients with autism.
Autism Spectrum Disorder affects one in every 110 U.S. children under the age of eight.
“We've been looking for ways to integrate virtual desktop technology into some of our autism programs for some time now,” said Steven Porter, chief information officer at Touchstone Behavioral Health, a Phoenix-based treatment center that specializes in working with children, in a statement.
Virtuon's vPresence virtual desktop gives the freedom to work securely on social and computer skills of patients without being locked in a computer lab. Remote access to specialized autism treatment tools allows therapists and patients to continue developing real-world life skills outside of traditional clinical environments.
vPresence is part of a suite of solutions offered by Virtuon across a variety of desktop and mobile platforms, including Apple iPad and tablet PCs.
Virtuon's infrastructure solutions include consultation, data center services and hardware and software products supported by a team of expert certified engineers.
Recently, Virtuon announced the launch of its Virtual Application service based on its area of expertise. With no development or rewrite effort required, software developers can put their applications immediately in the cloud as a Software-as-a-Service “SaaS” offering, with the help of new service.
