Healthcare Technology and News: Institute for Health Technology to Host Webinar with Alegent and Aventura

The Institute for Health Technology Transformation announced that it will conduct a webinar entitled “Improving Clinician Workflow and Efficiency – Overcoming IT Challenges at the Point of Care” on Feb. 10.

The webinar is in association with Alegent Health, a not-for-profit, faith-based healthcare system and Aventura, a software company that animates static clinical IT systems.

The event will feature Michael Westcott, MD, the CMIO of Alegent Health; and Howard Diamond, CEO of Aventura. Both will discuss Alegent's search to bridge the chasm between clinicians and computers.

The webinar will discuss how the Aventura solution achieved cuts in access time, improvements to securing patient data, and at the same time prepared the hospital for CPOE and clinical documentation at the patient bedside.

A client case study will feature Westcott's experience searching for a solution to do real-time computing at the patient bedside.

“Clinicians at Alegent were experiencing network logons of up to three to four minutes and application logons of 30-40 seconds before they adopted Aventura,” said Howard Diamond, CEO, Aventura, in a statement. “Now they have sub-five second logons and instant logoffs. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with and support Dr. Westcott on this upcoming webinar.”

Doctors spend less time struggling with computers since Aventura animates static clinical IT systems. With near-instant logons and logoffs, hospitals that use its systems now have clinicians using their EMRs in real-time the way they were designed to be used, the company said.

Alegent Health is a not-for-profit, faith-based healthcare system in Nebraska and southwestern Iowa with nine acute care hospitals, more than 100 service sites, over 1,300 physicians on its medical staff and roughly 9,000 employees.

Earlier last year, Alegent Health deployed a healthcare access management solution from Imprivata, the employee access management company. Following the deployment of Imprivata's OneSign healthcare access management solution, Alegent Health successfully migrated its metro area hospitals to full EMRs and secured its virtual desktop environment.
