Healthcare Technology and News: Vocera Acquires Wallace Wireless to Enhance Healthcare Communications

Vocera Communications, Inc., has acquired Wallace Wireless, Inc., a developer of software solutions that deliver pages, text messages, and alerts directly to smartphones in a secure and traceable way, over both WiFi and cellular data networks.

“Ineffective, incomplete, and inaccurate communication is a daunting challenge for caregivers striving to provide the highest possible care,” said Bob Zollars, chairman and CEO of Vocera Communications, in a statement.

“As a company, we are committed to finding solutions to these points of failure. Each of our four recent acquisitions, including Wallace Wireless, strengthens our portfolio of products and services that analyze, eliminate, or mitigate these communication failure points, and improve the patient experience,” said Zollars.

Based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Wallace Wireless solutions are deployed at more than 200 customer sites across North America in a variety of industries, including healthcare, finance, and public safety, where success often depends on staff being mobile and in constant communication with people, resources, and data.

“Vocera is committed to delivering integrated solutions that address the communication challenges inherent to mobile workforces, such as healthcare workers,” said Rob Moffat, president and co-founder of Wallace Wireless.

Moffat said that bringing the companies together creates enormous potential for improving the seamless delivery of alarms, alerts, and pages, regardless of the recipient’s location or device of choice. And this confirms Vocera as the leader in voice and data communications in healthcare.

“We could not have selected a partner with a strategic vision that is better aligned with ours,” he said.

Vocera Communications is a provider of voice communications systems designed to restore the human connection to healthcare. By providing integrated communications solutions for both voice and alarm and alert systems, Vocera allows care teams, patients, and loved ones to exchange critical information at the point of care.

The acquisition of Wallace Wireless is the fourth for Vocera since October, including Clinical Health Communications, makers of OptiVox, Integrated Voice Solutions, makers of VoiceCare, and ExperiaHealth.
