Healthcare Technology and News: Elsevier to Publish ISPOR's Value in Health Journal


The journal Value in Health from the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research also known as ISPOR will be now published by Elsevier. An announcement in this regard has been made by the top global publisher of scientific, technical and medical information, Elsevier.

The outcomes of research evaluations of medical technologies are reported by the multidisciplinary peer-reviewed journal, Value in Health. The medical technologies include pharmaceuticals, biologics, devices, medical procedures, and other healthcare interventions. Eight issues of the journal are published every year.

A scientific forum for communicating clinical, economic, and patient-reported outcomes research methods and findings is provided by the Journal. 'Society allocates scarce healthcare resources wisely, fairly, and efficiently' is ISPOR’s mission. This mission of ISPOR is furthered by the Value in Health Journal.

Health policy issues related to health economics are discussed by the Journal. The Journal is also a sounding board for discussions on outcomes of research studies associated with all medical technologies. Budget impact/cost-effectiveness/cost-utility/cost-benefit analysis and health utilities/preferences are some of the topics included in the Journal. Other topics include patient-reported outcomes/health-related quality of life/health status research, health technology assessment, disease management, with study designs and critical reviews of existing literature.

The science of pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research is promoted by the not-for-profit member driven, international, educational and scientific organization, ISPOR. Healthcare decisions are taken by translating the outcomes research by ISPOR.

Researchers and practitioners are represented by ISPOR. These include pharmacists, physicians, economists, public health and other professionals involved in pharmacoeconomic analysis and health outcomes assessment. Users of this information in healthcare decisions in government, hospitals, managed care, and pharmacy benefit design organizations are also represented by ISPOR.

More than 2,000 journals are published by Elsevier. These journals are published by Elsevier in collaboration with the global science and health communities.
