Healthcare Technology and News: Personal Connected Health Technology at CES 2011


Continua Health Alliance and other member companies such as Texas Instruments, Andago, Trac and Intel will demonstrate the best of their health connected solutions at the Consumer Electronic Show to be held from Jan. 6-9.

Continua is a non-profit organization with 230 alliances in healthcare and technological companies which are dedicated to giving their best for sustaining the ecosystem with connected health solutions. The company’s products and services leverage the standards based technology to keep the healthcare providers and the individuals to connected and empowered to manage health any time.  

The demonstrations at the CES include company certified health solutions that allow individuals to live a better life and live longer with solutions that can manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, congestive heart failure, hypertension and asthma. There will be educational demonstrations that will include weight scale and blood pressure cuff as well as Cypak USB converter design to connect devices to the Continua system. There will also be a Bluetooth pulse oximeter from Nonin Medical.

All these devices will be connected to the HealthLink PC managers from various companies such as Lamprey Networks and Intel. These devices will turn the PC into a home health gateway system enabling the Continua devices to deliver data to Personal Health Records.

There will be demonstrations from other members as well such as :

Andago –demonstrating a complete health monitoring system based on Continua Certification Guidelines. This health solution works by collecting patient data from a Continue helath device and then sending the information to a Linus based mobile via Bluetooth.

ZyXEL –showcasing its Smart Home Gateway technology. This technology is the industry’s first battery powered 3G/802.11n wireless platform for monitoring different aspects of health.     

Texas Instruments –featuring Continua Certified solutions for Telehealth in the Continua booth.

TMC had earlier reported about Mindtree launching a new Bluetooth health device solution on the Android platform in joint venture with Continua.
